Volunteers

As a Biological Resources Discipline (BRD) volunteer, you will be joining more than 6,000 people who annually help the BRD perform its mission to provide scientific information needed to manage biological resources. The volunteer program is an essential component of the BRD as reflected in the thousands of hours donated each year.

The Great Lakes Science Center is an active participant in the agency volunteer services program. We try to give volunteers the opportunity to gain valuable experience that can help them qualify for future jobs. Some types of work experience(s) include analyzing fish scales, identifying and counting zooplankton and aquatic insects, data entry, and clerical and administrative functions. Please contact Melissa Kostich at mkostich@usgs.gov or (734) 214-7214.
